Three Dogs 2012 Silly Holiday Photo Contest Winners!

The moment we’ve all been waiting for is now upon us!

Lawrence has been diligently collecting all the silly Holiday photo contest entries (and there were even more this year than last!), sat me down to go through them all, and then told me who the winners were.

So, without further ado…

Our three winners are, in no particular order:

Our second annual Three Dogs Silly Holiday Photo Contest!

Last year's winner, Maggie.

Update:  Our Silly Holiday Photo Contest is now closed. See you next year!

The air is crisp, it’s getting dark just after lunchtime, and the holidays are upon us – so it’s time for our second annual silly holiday photo contest!

The rules are simple:

  1. Fill out the form below with your name, email, and phone number and attach your silliest holiday dog photo.
  2. Only one photo per family, so make it your best!
  3. No repeat photos from the last contest – let’s keep those skills sharp!

We’ll collect them and Lawrence will judge the top three silliest entries. (Why Lawrence? To avoid favoritism since I know so many of you and your dogs personally.)

Our first annual Three Dogs Silly Holiday Photo Contest

Update – our Silly Holiday Photo Contest is now closed.  See you next year!

The air is crisp, it’s getting dark just after lunchtime, and the holidays are upon us so we thought we’d do something fun to make the start of Winter more fun:  our very first silly holiday photo contest!

The rules are simple:

1.) Fill out the form below with your name, email, phone, and attach your silliest holiday dog photo.

2.) We’ll collect them and Lawrence will judge the top three silliest entries.  Why Lawrence?  To avoid favoritism since I know so many of your dogs personally.

What do the winners get, beside the knowledge that they’ve got the silliest dog in the Hudson Valley?

The first place winner will receive a $25.00 gift certificate to the Three Dogs Training class of their choosing.

The second place winner will receive a $10.00 gift certificate to the Three Dogs Training class of their choosing.

The third place winner will receive a $5.00 gift certificate to the Three Dogs Training class of their choosing.

The contest begins immediately and will run until noon on December 23rd.  Once the winners are picked, we’ll post the results on the blog as well as get in touch with everyone to let them know they’ve won.

Good luck and happy holidays to everyone!

Everyone’s looking forward to Halloween, but what about your dog?

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays of the year.  It distills everything that a holiday should be – fun silly enjoyment – without all of the baggage and expectation that comes with many of the other holidays.  Halloween also happens to be the day we adopted Boo!

Pinball on a haybail in the pumpkin patchThe air is crisp, kids are running around acting and dressed strangely, there are knocks on your door constantly, there’s food being handed out – these are all great fun for us, but can you think of a combination of things that could put a dog on-edge more?  (Unless, of course, you added firecrackers into the mix?)

One of the reason we like holidays so much is that they represent, on a certain level, a departure from the norm of everyday life.  We do different things; we adopt different schedules; in a word, things are different.  While that works well for us, for a large number of dogs an unexpected change in routine is like fingernails on a blackboard and can set off a spiral of stress-related, unhealthy behaviors.
