Each time I teach the Animal-assisted Therapy, Education, and Activities (AATEA) course, we need volunteers for our mock-visit class. This is a great fun activity where the volunteers get to play the roll of a person being visited by the teams who are currently in class preparing for testing.
If you have ever considered visiting with your dog, but were not sure what this was all about, it is a great way to take a peek at what will be involved.
Another great volunteer opportunity is for the final testing day. We need volunteers to be the “crowd,” or to pet the testing dog, or to argue with another volunteer – no one really gets mad, but we have to try to see how the dogs will do around someone who might be angry.
- Mock Visits Day is May 14th from 12 noon – 1pm
- Pet Partners Evaluations will be June 4th usually from 9:30 am – 4:30 pm -ish. I will know the final schedule when we are closer to the date.
If you are interested (remember this is just for the human volunteer), please email me and prepare to have some fun.
