One of the really cool things about the new website (and the software running it) is that it allows us to easily see who’s using what to visit our website.
While some things were surprising – like Firefox being more popular than IE, for instance – the thing that was the most surprising was the amount of traffic that was coming from mobile devices like iPhones, Androids, and Blackberries.
With that in mind, we decided to take this as an opportunity to implement something that we’ve wanted to do for awhile: put together a website specifically for mobile users. Yesterday we flipped the switch and we’re really happy with the results.
The website will now automatically detect users coming from mobile devices and automatically provide them with a lightweight version of the website. However, if they’d like to go to the full version of the site there’s a link at the bottom that will load it for them so they can have the best of both worlds.
Hopefully mobile folks will find it useful and we’d love to hear what you think, so post a comment!
